THE STORY
“A large canvas, 120 × 100 cm, made using the escalate technique. The title — 'Moche and Paracas Fusion in the Present Day' — directly names two of Peru's most celebrated pre-Columbian cultures. Venezuelan artist Denny Rangel moved to Lima to study Peru's pre-Hispanic cultures and their aesthetics, and this work brings that research into a contemporary painted surface.”
About the artist
Denny Rangel is a Venezuelan visual artist based in Lima, with a degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad de los Andes in Venezuela. He moved to Peru to study its pre-Hispanic cultures and their aesthetics, which now form the core of his practice.
